Camps

Each year FCA launches a brand new camp theme. Themes from past years included "Unleash the Power", "Inside Out", and like this year's theme "Game Changer".  One theme is always consistent in FCA Baseball camps every year: The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is touching the lives of Athletes and Coaches... one heart at a time. Check out a few of our past camp photos below.

Challenging Baseball Instruction, Rewarding Spiritual Development

FCA Baseball camps are a time of inspiration and perspiration. We work hard on our sport but we will also have a lot of fun and build better baseball players from the inside out. Each camp day includes three 1 hour baseball training sessions covering fundamental skills development in the areas of hitting, fielding, base running, speed and agility. Athletes are challenged to train at a higher level and grow in a positive environment where success is measured not only measured by skill but also by effort, teamwork and positive attitude.

Our camp trainers come from local local high school baseball programs who share the same desire to make a positive impact and work with us to equip, encourage, and empower all athletes to play at a higher level. Campers receive instruction in groups according to age division and  one-on-one settings as needed. Instruction is not only focused on physical and mental techniques, but also on spiritual growth.

Background to this year's Camp Theme: Game Changer

There are moments in every game that determine the outcome. These plays are called gamechangers. Sometimes they are made by individuals or by a whole team pulling together to turn a game around in one play. These gamechangers always transform the entire momentum of the game.

The Bible is full of gamechanging moments that resulted in outstanding victories for God. Every Christian has his or her own spiritual gamechanging moments, such as accepting Jesus Christ as Lord an
d Savior and committing to begin and maintain daily Bible reading and prayer. It takes courage and confidence to make a play. Could this be the day that is a gamechanger in your life?

All athletes, coaches and teams have performance goals. What is the goal of a Christian when it comes to his or her relationship with a world that needs to know Christ? The moment you decide to engage the world for Jesus Christ is a gamechanger for your life.

Summer 2011 PowerCamp for the FCA Golden Eagles at Patterson Park

PowerCamp 2011The Golden Eagles PowerCamp was held August 1-4th and was another great camp experience for our team. This year, we held our camp at Patterson Park Community Center to provide a unique baseball camp experience where the kids could enjoy other activities like swimming, basketball, games, competitions, and other fun, indoor activities. Each morning, we worked out with the Central Magnet High School Tigers, exceptional baseball players, who shared their time with our team to earn community service hours for their school.

As with every PowerCamp, we invested in spiritual development each day learning about a new core value: Integrity, Serving, Teamwork and Excellence. These values are what make us who we are and we built these values into our baseball camp as we emphasized the FCA camp theme of "GameChanger".

Summer 2010 PowerCamp at New Vision Baptist Church

The FCA Baseball PowerCamp ended on July 15th and it was an awesome time of fellowship and fun with local children ages 5-12. We had 64 kids in camp with 4 High School trainers and about 10 adult volunteers to help provide a fun, interactive baseball camp experience for these children. Guest speakers included Riverdale Baseball Head Coach Barry Messer, Central Magnet Baseball Head Coach Buddy Powers, MTSU Softball Centerfielder Kelsey Dortch, and Oakland High School Baseball Coach Brennan King. Our excellent Trainers included Collin Berry, Maiki Egawa, Blake Barden, and Eric McCormick. The local FCA representatives Brian Harrell and Steve Llewellyn delivered excellent team devotions. Pastor Brady Cooper gave an awesome closing devotion on sacrifice and teamwork.

Each day we covered a new core value: Integrity, Serving, Teamwork and Excellence and built these themes into our baseball camp as we emphasized the FCA camp theme of "Strengthen your Core! ". Most importantly, we were able to share what it takes to become a true Competitor for Christ.

Fall 2009 Total Athlete Camp at Showtime Sports Academy

The fall 2009 Total Athlete Camp was a great experience for me personally being around these wonderful kids for 7 weeks. They were exceptionally talented athletes and it was very rewarding as a coach to see such gifted talent in action. I wonder who learned more, me or them! The campers enjoyed special visits each week. Guest speakers included a special visit from MTSU Baseball players Nathan Hines and Tyler Akers. New Vision Baptist Church Children's Pastor Michael Murray also stopped by to speak to the kids. The FCA Camp Trainers were Jason Williams, a former minor league pitcher and Trey Golden who played for Baylor University. Our main goal this camp was to emphasize that true strength comes from the heart. Baseball can make you stronger on the outside, but only God can transform the heart, the true source of power and strength.

Let the Competition begin. Let the Glory be God's!
